The room

Forty beech chairs face two old horn loudspeakers. The valves warm from ten. At half past, the needle drops.

What happens

A host chooses one side, then another. The lights fall. Nobody speaks until the run-out groove turns. Between records, the bar pours jenever, small beer and water.

There is no stage and no best seat. Come early enough to hear the transformers wake. Leave in time for the last tram, or stay for the final play-through at 03:00.

  5. The last play-through starts at 03:00.
