Rooms Without Clocks
Sable Index
Sleeve notes
Sable Index is Hana Reeve and Tomas Or, two people who distrust metronomes. They worked at night in three empty municipal buildings due for repair: a bath house, a records office and the council chamber. Each room supplied its own measure. A drain ticked. Fluorescent tubes beat against one another. The organ sagged when the heating came on.
These are not portraits of those places. The pair used contact microphones and bowed sheet metal until the architecture seemed to answer back, then carried only those answers home. Listen closely near the end of “Registry Sleep”: a lorry passes outside and every loose pane joins the chord.
